Fayetteville Executive Airport/Drake Field


In the past four decades, McClelland Consulting Engineers has completed more than 40 projects at the Fayetteville Executive Airport. A small selection of our most recent work at Fayetteville Executive Airport includes:

MCE provided planning, design and construction administration for the phased development of the east parallel taxiway and connecting Taxiway E to the runway to accommodate the U.S. Forest Service’s move to Drake Field/Fayetteville Executive Airport. The total taxiway length is approximately 1,700 feet with a minimum paved width of 50 feet. The project also included approximately 100 medium intensity taxiway lights and five lighted taxiway signs. Total project cost was $1.5 million.

McClelland Consulting Engineers also completed an airfield pavement rehabilitation project for the Fayetteville Executive Airport that involved upgrading the taxiway strengths to accommodate aircraft used by the USDA Forest Service Fire Fighting Division. In addition, Taxiway A, Taxiway D and the southern portion of Taxiway B were widened to 50 feet for the USDA Forest Service aircraft. The runway was sealed with an asphalt rejuvenating material and restriped. The north end of the west apron was expanded and regraded to meet the prescribed pavement slopes from the hangars and taxiway lanes. Project was estimated at $2.2 million and completed at $2.1 million and constructed in one year.

MCE has also designed multiple hangar complexes at the Fayetteville Executive Airport including the hangar building (125′ x 150′) used by the airport’s Fixed Base Operator which can accommodate multiple Gulfstream V aircraft and includes a gas-fired infrared heating system. Next to the FBO Hangar is the Executive Hangar Complex designed by the McClelland Airport Services Division. This five and a half acre complex includes an apron and seven executive/corporate hangars. Scope of work also included apron pavement, taxiway, site utilities, relocation of entry road and revised vehicular parking. MCE  also designed two six-bay T-hangars measuring 60′ x 200′ for small twin engine aircraft at the Fayetteville Executive Airport. Both hangars include a porous pavement drainage system along building sides to accommodate all roof runoff during rain events.
